The New American WAR . . . against Women :(

In the continual drive by right-wing evangelical "corporateers" . . . COR - POR - MOUSE . . . to find a new enemy to focus on, and in the spirit that God believes man should "rule" (provided he is white and goes to the correct church and has the right job) . . . a new enemy has found itself smack dab in the middle of the high-tech radar sights of the white boys who rule America through that self-anointed divine right.

Their latest target: women.

You can see it so many ways: cops who rape women at gun point or who find a way to "slip their dick" in to some poor drunk soul who just happens to be too out of it to say "no" . . . 11 year old girls forcibly gang-banged by older boys who somehow have brought it upon themselves (as obviously a slutty 11 year old surely would). We have gone back culturally into some Stone Age "Land Before Time" Amusement Park where, once again, women bring this on themselves because they have the audacity to dress in a way that somehow incites some poor man to feel the need (and the justification) to fuck her -- because she obviously "wants it" or she wouldn't dress that way.

The idea that women want sex (and the right to choose their partners) is, to some, a thing to be feared. The idea that women have the same abilities as a man to make it in the world is also, to some, another attitude to be feared because those women are self-actualized and not so likely to stay barefoot and pregnant in the castle that (in their minds) the man should rule with an iron glove.

We also see this in the military. The number and violence of rapes and sexual assaults against women in the armed froces is staggering. I have a 20 year old daughter, a truly beautiful young woman, and my main fear for her if she were forced to join the United States Army -- or any other service branch -- is not that she would get killed in action, but rather that she would get raped on the base. This is unbelievable . . . but the numbers of actual incidents is too large to ignore.

We have regressed to a state, when it comes to women owning their bodies, of barbarism. This doesn't even address the regressive measures being enacted in many states regarding abortion and / or birth control. This "war" is real . . . and ongoing . . . and likely to get worse.

It is a truly schizophrenic society we live in. Young girls, sexualized from an early age -- their childhoods, in essence, taken from them . . . a culture that promotes "on air" promiscuity (how many people will, literally, fuck on camera now if they think someone will see them and put them "in the movies" ) all the while chastizing any one who expresses a sense of individuality if that somehow crosses some arbitrary line that two minutes earlier was blown apart.

This attitude, and the cultural insistence on youth and beauty is, to me, an obvious means of not only controlling women but setting up standards whereby rich men -- who might not otherwise be sexually attractive partners -- can vicariously "share" the pleasures of this young "flesh" as well as set up an economic climate in which they can more easily coerce young women to engage in sex with them for some kind of monetary "reward".

I wrote an article during the week leading up to the Super Bowl about the number of under-age prostitutes descending on Dallas -- it was appalling to me that we, in this "richest land of all time" -- find it somehow acceptable to pay to fuck a 12 year-old as part of the Super Bowl "festivities". Disgusting, truly disgusting !!!

It is no wonder people are "confused" -- but that doesn't change this obvious fact. Dressing a certain way is not an invitation by a woman to be attacked; it is an expression of her sense of style.

The old joke from the 80's -- "what's the difference between a slut and a bitch? A slut fucks everybody; a bitch fucks everybody but you" -- is not funny, nor should the frat boy mentality behind it be tolerated in our society.

It is time we stand together to support the rights of women . . . no means "no". Truly it does.
